CLEAN ROOM SUPERVISOR

Position based in Koforidua, Ghana (West Africa)

Maagrace Garment Industries Limited (MGIL) is an apparel manufacturing firm created in 2003. Maagrace’s vision is to become the largest high-quality mass production garment producer in West Africa. Through innovation, efficiency and integrity, they provide the best quality products to customers while empowering their workforce, especially women. Maagrace also has a Foundation focused on alleviating poverty within its neighboring communities. In 2020, in the context of COVID-19, Maagrace has produced over 500,000 sets of scrubs meeting international performance and quality standards. The scrubs will be distributed to public and private hospitals at free or reduced cost levels, in close coordination with the Government of Ghana. 

The next step is to manufacture surgical masks achieving international testing requirements and certification. This surgical mask production unit will be the first of its caliber in Ghana -- providing a reliable source of local supply for medical-grade masks to protect healthcare providers. 

 

Position overview 

 

In order to achieve this objective, MGIL is currently building a clean room and recruiting a team of more than 15 people who will become experts in the industry working on the following machines and/or Units: Sonic Machine, Mask machine, Bagging machine, Material Handling, Packing, Warehouse and Maintenance.

We have a great opportunity for someone with passion and desire to make a difference in making surgical masks to cope with the current international pandemic to join Maagrace as a Clean Room Supervisor. This is the perfect role for someone with strong leadership skills who will manage the Clean Room Team and become an expert in a high caliber, pioneering production unit. The Clean Room Supervisor will report to the General Manager and will join an existing dynamic, fast-growing team bringing diverse experience from around the world. 

 

Key responsibilities 

 

  • Lead and coach the Clean Room Technical team to deliver excellence with respect to international and MGIL standards and KPI’s.

  • Ensure consistent training, coaching and professional development of the Clean Room Technicians.

  • Develop training programmes that will increase the technical knowledge and rigorously international standards at all times.

  • Prepare the clean room (materials, resources etc.) with the aim of eliminating any errors and to work according to the Company Clean Room SOP. 

  • Maintains a sterile environment in the clean room, by wearing the proper protective gowns and PPEs, cleaning the room, and behaving according to clean room procedures that align with international practices or guidelines. 

  • Ensure the Clean Room Technicians rigorously check the different steps in making the mask from welding multiple fabrics into one, inserting a nose wire and cutting the formed material into pieces, picking up the cut pieces at the end for a product check, bagging the masks etc.

  • According to defined guidelines, ensure the Clean Room Technicians clean the equipment and the workplace as well as monitor possible residual materials. They should systematically do so with the aim of working in a neat and clean environment which adheres to the quality guidelines so as to prevent accidents and incidents.

  • Show respect for the quality, neatness and safety guidelines when carrying out production orders with the aim of preventing accidents and other unwanted incidents.

Qualifications, skills, and attributes required

 

  • Fluent in English 

  • Engineering or technical degree 

  • Previous experience working in a production or manufacturing environment, ideally in a cleanroom setting.

  • Outstanding leadership and management skills

  • Ability to effectively communicate with others.

  • Knowledge of clean room procedures and compliance with ISO7 and FDA regulations, preferred but not required.

  • Ability to take initiative, including asking for and offering help when needed; perform work independently without being prompted.

  • Ability to complete repetitive motions, handle multiple tasks and organize resources to ensure work is completed on time.

  • Strong attention to detail and focus on quality, accuracy, sterility, and aseptic technique.

  • Outstanding computer and math skills.

  • Evidence of the following characteristics: proactive, self aware; resilient and adaptable; persistent and resourceful; able to work under pressure and respect deadlines, apt at both strengthening relationships and resolving problems, poised, active listener; fun to work with; full of integrity; ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment
