EAA is working to unlock the tremendous potential of the West Africa apparel industry, supporting African-owned factories to grow exports to the US, UK, and Europe. EAA focuses on developing factories in a lean, sustainable, and ethical way that sets the standard for garment manufacturing in a West African context. We work closely with government and development agencies to develop an ecosystem for industrial growth -- including the launch of a Center of Excellence for local skill development and efforts to catalyze investment in an integrated cotton value chain. Position overview


We have a great opportunity for someone with passion and desire to make a difference in clothing manufacturing to join us as Quality Manager This is the perfect role for someone wishing to challenge their expertise by helping to develop the industry on a new continent. This person would report to the factory Executive team and work closely with the EAA teams in Ghana and Benin. They will be responsible to maintain product quality and ensure that targets are achieved. More specifically, they will have the following responsibilities: 




  • Develop and maintain a quality plan to bring EAA’s Quality Assurance Systems and Policies into compliance with quality system requirements.

  • Assist EAA Technical / product Development Managers with checking patterns/specification and construction, identifying and resolving production impracticalities in an appropriately timely manner, and to make a final decision on quality according to company standards and requirements.

  • Work with the EAA partner factories to train and ensure Daily Quality reports are prepared and delivered for all departments including Cutting, Sewing, Finishing and Packing.

  • Implement DHU reports and ensure targets are achieved.

  • Support partner factories to train and develop their QA and QC teams to achieve the Customer Quality Requirements.

  • Liaise with the Raw Material and Accounts teams to check raw material quality and give approval 

  • Supervise in the handling of sample evaluation and production approval by reviewing the measurement, workmanship, fitting, accessories, etc., and giving comments on production.

  • Monitor QA/QC performance by gathering relevant production data and produce statistical reports to be communicated with all related departments. 

  • Identify relevant quality-related training needs and deliver training.

  • Attend Factories pre-production meetings

  • Support Factories team in In-line inspection to check the quality and follow up Pre- Final inspection

  • Support factories in keeping all necessary documents and quality SOP

  • Ultimately ensure final product quality as per clients and EAA’s AQL standards

  • Attend Factories post-production meetings


Qualifications & Attributes


  • Fluent in English 

  • Proven experience as Quality Manager (minimum 7 years’ experience) of a factory with at least 200 machines

  • In-depth knowledge and experience in implementing various quality standards

  • Proven successful experience in leading quality assurance department and ensuring compliance with quality standards for garment manufacturing

  • Outstanding in effectively managing operations spanning requirement analysis, sampling, quality, production, dispatch and liaison to ensure on time delivery and right the first time

  • Experience of working with Western brands from the USA or Europe

  • Previous experience and passion to train and build local capacity 

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills across cultures and ability to deliver strong technical reports

  • Ability to work independently on self-directed projects with an entrepreneurial attitude

  • Ability to think critically, work hard, learn and progress

  • Previous working/living experience in a developing country, ideally in Africa

  • Evidence of the following characteristics: pro-active, self aware; resilient and adaptable; persistent and resourceful; able to work under pressure and respect deadlines, apt at both strengthening relationships and resolving problems, poised, active listener; fun to work with; full of integrity; ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment
